Three days in Wellington turned out to be a lovely trail of incredible food, amazing coffee and a bustling little city thats big enough to always find something to see and do, but equally completely manageable on foot without needing much transport around. We pretty much walked everywhere, skateboarded or just for laughs got a Uber Electric Scooter one night.
The first surprise for me in Wellington was just how great the food is everywhere with every choice you can think of.

For Breakfast / Brunch
Two Grey Bar and Brasserie
This is a very chic calm brunch spot - great for a romantic brunch or for a business brunch. The service (like everywhere in Wellington) is impeccable and greeted by nothing but smiles and helpfulness. The Maple and Bacon Hot Cakes are indulgent greatness for a wake up brekkie.
Cuba Street
Cuba Street is FULL of excellent , hipster cafes to stop off my breakfast, brunch or a coffee. I didn't have ONE bad or average coffee in Wellington. In fact, I would go as far to say the coffee in Wellington is the best in New Zealand - by miles.
Dinners . . . some great spots we ate at - and I would highly recommend - do make sure you call up and book though as they get booked up quite fast.
For 'Date Night'
Ombra .
Think 'Italian sharing plates' and cute Italian vibes in one. The whole concept is to order and share rather than having one big ass dish. The flavours are so damn good, you will want to keep going back for more. We shared three plates between two and it was more than enough. The Gnocci and Meatballs were epic!
For 'somewhere chilled'
The Old Quarter
Vietnamese Fusion - this place is also a take out, so if you can't get a table then get a take out! Bangin' proper authentic Vietnamese food - again you can order lots of different bits to share or a big curry. The Beef short ribs, fell off the bone are so good they will silence any table.
For Somewhere 'different'
El Matador
El matador takes you through a portal from Wellington and into an argentine world. From tasty well made cocktails to grilled meats that will have you druelling. The music, the lighting and service all ooze that great South American energy we all love whilst you eat and drink the night away. We had one of the best burgers we've ever had with every component of the burger being done to perfection.
Activities
Husk Brewery and Coffee Roasters
Husk was a little hidden gem off of Cuba street we stumbled by, but then ended up spending a few hours in there tasting different beers and playing connect four and Jenga. Its a fun little stop off if you like your beer or your coffee - as it is those two things rolled into one.
Te papa Museum
A huge museum on the waterfront with several mind blowing and interactive expeditions. A large section of the museum is completely free to view, with some paying expeditions you can optionally got to see. There is currently a great one on natural disasters with an 'earth quake simulator' so you can see what one actually feels like!
Dirty Little Secret
A roof top bar hidden off of Dixon Street. Great views of the city in summer and if you fancy a dance...this is your place where it will be going off!
